Kali ini penulis memilih topik cinta. Cinta tampaknya menjadi sesuatu yang kebanyakan penyair tidak tahu banyak tentangnya. Puisi-puisi yang telah penulis pilih kali ini mencakup keseluruhan spektrum tanggapan terhadap cinta, dari kegembiraan sampai kesedihan, dan kadang-kadang campuran keduanya. Selayaknya topiknya kali ini, daftarnya agak berat pada Romantis dan terang pada tipe pencerahan yang rasional.

10. “Since There’s No Help,” by Michael Drayton (1563-1631)

9. “How Do I Love Thee,” by Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861)

8. “Love’s Philosophy,” by Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)

7. “Love,” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834)

6. “A Red, Red Rose,” by Robert Burns (1759-1796)

4. “Whoso List to Hunt,” by Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503-1542)

2. “Bright Star,” by John Keats (1795-1821)

1. “Let Me Not to the Marriage of True Minds” (Sonnet 116), by William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

but I didn't know where to look,
I searched for so long,
and all my time it took.
What was I looking for,
or what was looking for me?
My eyes I kept open
but I just couldn't see.
It was gnawing at my heart
and ripping through my brain.
I didn't know what was wrong.
I thought I was going insane.
I was tired of looking for something
that I thought was impossible to find.
It was tearing me apart.
I prayed to God to give me a sign.
I waited and waited,
but the sign never came.
Finally, one day it happened
My heart completely changed
I found what I was looking for,
But I wasn't looking for this.
Am I sure this is what I was looking for?
Or was it something that I missed?
When I looked into the eyes
of this something I thought was fake
I saw an angel looking back,
and my heart it did take.
This something that I've been looking for
was a true gift from God above.
The missing piece I found was you and your love.

Poem, poetry, dan prose merupakan bagian dari karya-karya kesustraan yang ada dalam bahasa inggris. Sering kali karya sastra tersebut sobat dengar didalam dunia kesusastraan. Biasanya ketiga karya sastra tersebut sering digunakan dalam tulisan yang memiliki makna tersendiri dan juga pemilihan kata yang indah. Poem, poetry, dan juga prose sering digunakan dalam beberapa kompetisi/ kontes dalam bidang seni.

WHAT IS POEM?

Poem is a piece of writing that partakes of the nature of both speech and song that is nearly always rhytmical, usually methaporical. Diartikan dalam bahasa indonesia, sajak hampir sama dengan puisi, bahkan keduanya cukup sulit untuk di bedakan. Nah, sajak itu sendiri merupakan bentuk tulisan yang penyajian nya memiliki sifat teratur dan terikat dalam baris antara satu sama lainya.

WHAT IS POETRY?

Poetry is language spoken or written according to some pattern of recurrence that emphasises relationships between words on the basis of sound as well as meaning. This pattern is almost always a rhythm or metre (regular pattern of sound units). This pattern may be supplemented by ornamentation such as rhyme or alliteration or both. Jika dalam bahasa Indonesia, Poetry/puisi merupakan bentuk karya tulis yang merupakan ekspresi jiwa seseorang dengan nilai estetika yang berkualitas tinggi dan memiliki makna yang mendalam.

WHAT IS PROSE?

Prose is the form of written language that is not organised according to formal patterns of verse. It may have some sort of rhythm and some devices of repetition and balance, but these are not governed by regularly sustained formal arrangement. The significant unit is the sentence, not the line. Hence it is represented without line breaks in writing. Dalam bahasa indonesia, prose biasanya disebut dengan prosa dan sebagai suatu bentuk karya tulis yang memiliki ritme dan sering digunakan untuk menuangkan sebuah gagas, ide, dan bahkan suatu fakta.

Lalu Dimana Letak Perbedaan Antara Poem, Poetry Dan Prose?

Poem : Kumpulan sajak bahasa inggris yang disetiap barisnya saling terhubung/memiliki keterikatan.

Poetry : sebuah puisi (karya tulis) dalam bahasa inggris yang memiliki unsur estetika dan makna yang mendalam bagi penulisnya.

Prose : Prose atau prosa merupakan karya tulis yang memiliki ritme (aksen suara yang teratur ) yang besar dan biasanya digunakan untuk menuangkan ide atau gagasan akan suatu hal.

Intinya, kalau poetry itu tidak terpengaruh sajak dan rima.

Contoh Prose :

An example of a prose poem written by Gary Young, Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz county, is called 'I discovered a journal'.

'I discovered a journal in the children's ward, and read, I'm a mother, my little boy has cancer. Further on, a girl has written, this is my nineteenth operation. She says, sometimes it's easier to write than to talk, and I'm so afraid. She's offered me a page in the book. My son is sleeping in the room next door. This afternoon, I held my whole weight to his body while a doctor drove needles deep into his leg. My son screamed, Daddy, they're hurting me, don't let them hurt me, make them stop. I want to write, how brave you are, but I need a little courage of my own, so I write, forgive me, I know I let them hurt you, please don't worry. If I have to, I can do it again.'

The prose poem looks, at first glance, like prose. But unlike prose, it resists conventional narrative or character. The voice of the speaker is never elaborated on (except that he is a father). The poem defies easy interpretation, due to multiple pronouns that are not clarified, in addition to raising the question of whose journal it is. If you read the prose poem out loud, you can hear the rhythm that the prose poem contains. It's not as clear-cut as a traditional poem, since it is a prose poem, but there is clearly a consideration to each word and sentence the writer chose.
